As many of you know, I was expecting our second baby to arrive this summer and he was born August 1st!  As you can see from the photos below, big sis Genevieve is proud as can be of "her baby."  She is being such a good sister and helper, so I can sigh a little sigh of relief with that one.  I had someone else handle the newborn portraits for me, but I've been dreaming of this pose since I found out I was pregnant.  Somehow the gods were on my side and I was able to get some perfect ones that I will treasure forever.  I included a few goofy outtakes as well, because let's be honest, those are a bit more true to life around here.  Being an Iow ... What's so important about heirloom albums? We live in a digital world.  We benefit from that SO MUCH, and sharing images is one of those benefits.  I love the flexibility that comes with digital photography and applying it as a wedding photographer in Cedar Rapids.  I love being able to share our memories on Facebook and Instagram, keeping in touch with family and friends.  I love being able to have multiple backups of my images for safekeeping.  But our generation is facing a major problem.  We live in a digital world. Remember flipping through family albums?  Seeing recent photos of yourself on the walls of your family home?  Not panick ... Read the Post

Iowa City photographer, Iowa photographer, 4th of July, summer fun
Happy 4th of July!  Ok, well it's the 6th of July now...but the sentiment is still there.  As an Iowa City photographer, I have photographed all kinds of kids.  But my kid still challenges me more than anyone else to get a good picture.  She is 22 months and does not hold still pretty much ever.  As you can see in these pictures from our 4th, she is always on the move!  I may not have very many photos of her posing with a smile, but I do have photos that totally capture her personality at the moment!  Someday she will be a sulking teen that I can't get off the couch, so I'll enjoy her bustling energy while I can. This year was Genevieve's ... Read the Post

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Samantha and Curtis' family farm wedding in Aledo, IL.  The entire day was full of laughter, love and friendship, which is what weddings are supposed to be all about!  As a Quad Cities wedding photographer, I get to see weddings all over eastern Iowa and western Illinois.  With such a picturesque setting-it was the quintessential midwest wedding! Overlooking rolling hills and cornfields, the bride's family farm added a touch of hospitality right from the beginning.  I felt welcomed immediately!  The bride and her bridesmaids got ready in the farmhouse, with the guys hanging out behind the ba ... Check out this recent Iowa City engagement session with Steven and Paige!  We went to the Coralville Fossil Gorge, one of my favorite locations, to commemorate their engagement.  Like I said, the fossil gorge is one of my favorite places to photograph.  It has such a great mix of rugged textures with lush greenery.  There are also great trails around the gorge to explore around the river and surrounding woods.  You may notice it as a backdrop for quite a few of my sessions, like this Iowa City engagement session last year.  There's always something new to find.  This day, we were blessed with a blooming wall of bridal wreaths.  Talk about goo ... Danielson Photography, Cedar Rapids wedding photographer, photograph of bride and groom at Ashton Hill Farm.
As a Cedar Rapids wedding photographer, I was so excited to get to work at Ashton Hill Farm.  Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Annie and Zach's wedding.  The classic backdrop of the farm provided the perfect setting for Annie and Zach's relaxed party.  The bohemian yet clean lines of the decor complemented their event focused on their shared love of music, beer and friendship.  With their friends and family spread out all over the country, the couple was so excited to have their closest loved ones all under one roof. Annie had this to say about her wedding day: "I think one of the most unique things about our relationshi ... Read the Post
